Biography

Farhoud Salimi is the Executive Director, Service Delivery at eHealth NSW and is responsible for managing eHealth NSW’s statewide platforms and a Service Delivery team of over 1400 ICT professionals. Service Delivery incorporates eight portfolios including corporate and clinical application development and support, analytics and integration services, technology and customer support services, as well as the cloud and cyber security practices for NSW Health. Prior to his role at eHealth NSW, Farhoud worked in the private sector including financial services, insurance and FMCG. Farhoud holds a Bachelor of Science, with Honours in Computer Science (UNSW) and is proud to sponsor the Women in Leadership Community of Practice at eHealth NSW.

An AI-based remote patient monitoring system using facial videos: A pilot study

Biography

Jinman Kim is a Professor of Computer Science at the University of Sydney. He is the Research Director of the Telehealth and Technology Centre, Nepean and Blue Mountains Local Health District. He also leads the Biomedical Data Analysis and Visualisation (BDAV) Lab at the School of Computer Science. Prof Kim co-leads the ‘digital health imaging’, as part of the Faculty of Engineering’s Digital Science Initiative, with the vision and strategy to improve the use and accessibility of medical imaging via AI innovations. Prof Kim’s research is in the application of machine learning for health informatics with a focus project implementation. Several of his research outcomes are implemented and used across hospitals. His focus is on multi-modal data processing and includes image-omics, multi-modal data processing, and image data correlation to other health data. He has produced a number of publications in this field and received multiple competitive grants and scientific recognitions.

Cardiac Analytics & Innovation (CardiacAI): Leveraging digital health data to improve patient care

Biography

Sze-Yuan is a clinician researcher with expertise in the fields of coronary intervention and cardiac device implantation, including novel implantable cardiac device and remote monitoring technologies. He is a Senior Staff Specialist and Director of the Coronary Care Unit at the Prince of Wales Hospital, Sydney. Sze-Yuan is a Conjoint Associate Professor with UNSW Sydney and is the Clinical Lead for Connected Health, Tyree Foundation Institute for Health Engineering UNSW. His research interests include novel device technologies and digital health innovations including mHealth. Ooi has co-designed and validated a smartphone application-based model of care (TeleClinical Care) that can prevent readmission for patients with acute coronary syndrome and heart failure. These works will form the centrepiece of the planned Virtual Care Centre in the Randwick Precinct redevelopment which will deliver Virtual Care to multiple patient cohorts across the South Eastern Sydney Local Health District community. Ooi co-designed and led the implementation of a remote monitoring solution for COVID-19 patients isolating in the community (TCC-COVID) across the South Eastern Sydney LHD. Ooi is the lead clinician and data custodian for the Cardiac Analytics and Innovation (CardiacAI) project. He has been awarded over $15M in research funding as CI or PI over the last 5 years.

The NSW Health Enterprise Data Lake: Transforming healthcare through data and insights

Biography

Harmeet Chhabra is the Director of Business Intelligence at eHealth NSW. He’s responsible for the delivery of the state-wide data, analytics and business intelligence solutions. In his current role, Harmeet is in the early stages of delivering an innovative, enterprise data lake, which puts NSW Health at the cutting edge of the use of data analytics to drive improvements in public health. In addition, Harmeet has commissioned the build of a secure data analytics platform, in alignment with the Five Safes and NSW AI assurance framework, that can be used by data analysts and researchers cost-effectively to produce analytics outputs on Health Sensitive data. Harmeet is passionate about data-driven decision making, leading to improved business outcomes and efficiency. Outside of work, Harmeet enjoys holidays in tropical destinations and giggles with his 8 month-old son, Leo.
