Sankalp Khanna is a Principal Research Scientist and leads the Health Intelligence team at the CSIRO Australian e-Health Research Centre. His research is focused on applying Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning techniques to model, analyse, predict, simulate and optimise patient flow through Australian public hospitals and develop explainable algorithms for delivering decision support that clinicians can interpret and trust. Solutions developed by Sankalp have helped reshape workflow and policy in hospitals in Australia and overseas. Sankalp is also Adjunct Associate Professor at the Queensland University of Technology and Griffith University, the Secretary of the Pacific Rim International Conference on Artificial Intelligence (PRICAI) Steering Committee, and a founding Fellow of the Australasian Institute of Digital Health.
Dr Ditte Weber
Postdoctoral
Aalborg University
National trial overview: Towards accessible and patient centered healthcare
9:50 AM - 10:00 AMBiography
My research primarily focuses on equity in digital healthcare and vulnerable populations, participatory design and user involvement.
I have a bachelor’s degree in public health (2010-2013) and a master of science in global health (2013-2017). I was a research assistant in Rwanda (2015-16), working with primary healthcare, and I was involved in a project to promote sexual and reproductive health education in Tanzania (2012-2017).
In my PhD project (2018-2022), I explored how young people living with cognitive disabilities use digital technology to develop and maintain social relations and communities and develop their competences and ambitions.
Currently, I have a postdoctoral position in a public-private collaboration which aims to 1) implement a national IT platform with an overview of all clinical trials in Denmark for patients, healthcare professionals and life science companies, and 2) create a solid framework for conducting decentralised clinical trials in Denmark.
