Details

This session contains a 40 minute workshop and a 40 minute panel.

Workshop: Maturity models in biomedical informatics: Current status and internationalization workshop

Implementing maturity models across a community of institutions has proven to be an effective method to guide planning and development of a range of IT and data driven processes in health care. For the past several years the Clinical and Translational Sciences Award consortium in the United States has promoted the development and use of maturity models as tools to track and develop informatics resources that accelerate science. This workshop is an extension of this exploration and will present the current status of a number of maturity models developed to date including models for Research IT, Clinical Trial Management Ecosystem, Enterprise Data Warehousing for Research (EDW4R), Social Determinants of Health (SDOH) and Healthcare Analytics. The workshop will also present strategies for applying these models in academic health centers. In particular, the workshop participants will actively engage in activities to evaluate the applicability of these models to academic health centers outside of the United States, and to develop strategies and modification to make the models broadly applicable internationally.

Panel: Academic leadership development in biomedical and health informatics

Academic leadership development in biomedical and health informatics (BMHI) is essential in preparing the next-generation BMHI workforce. The multidisciplinary and multi-national panelists will provide perspectives and helpful advice through interactive discussions on BMHI leadership pathways and development that will benefit BMHI professionals at all career levels.
