A robust discussion from industry leaders focused on maximising opportunities to realise the promise of digital to deliver reform outcomes- and finally bridge the gap between government-led digital initiatives and the business of healthcare.

The Commonwealth Government has demonstrated commitment to safe digitisation as a platform to deliver reforms in health and aged care. The privacy and security reforms will consolidate effort. Hear how the industry experts recommend we can respond to such a large investment in several parallel reforms that all require sustainable digital enablement.

This will be discussed in the context of risks and opportunities in areas including:

Biography

Emma Hossack is the CEO of the Medical Software Industry Association (MSIA Ltd). She is also a Director of the Australian Digital Health Agency, Council member of the National Aged Care Advisory Council and a Director of the University of Melbourne Law School Foundation Board. Prior to this Emma was the CEO of several software companies, a commercial lawyer, and Board member of several not for profit and advisory committees for health and privacy including being President of the International Association of Privacy Professionals ANZ. In 2021 Emma was awarded a Telstra Health Brilliant Women in Digital Health inaugural Award. Emma holds a B.A (Hons), LLB and LLM. Emma is mother of triplet girls and enjoys marathon running.

Biography

Grahame Grieve is HL7's Product Director for "FHIR" - the leading healthcare data exchange standard of the future. Grahame has a background in laboratory medicine, software vendor development, clinical research, open source development and has also conceived, developed and sold interoperability and clinical document solutions and products in the Australian market and around the world. Grahame has worked to develop standards and solutions with several US vendor consortiums, and the national programs of Canada, England, Singapore, and Australia. In the last decade, Grahame has focused on nurturing and leading the FHIR community around the world.

Biography

In April 2022 Elizabeth was appointed Managing Director of Telstra Health, Australia’s largest digital health company and a subsidiary of Telstra Group Limited. Prior to this Elizabeth was Secretary, NSW Health for a six year term. As Secretary, Elizabeth was responsible for the management of the NSW health system, the largest health system in Australia with a $30 billion budget and 124,000 FTE. Key strategy achievements include the implementation of value based care across NSW, the progression of e-Health initiatives and a $2B/year capital infrastructure program. In 2020/2021 Elizabeth lead the NSW Health system through the COVID-19 pandemic and advised NSW crisis cabinet on the management of COVID-19 in NSW, and the subsequent vaccination roll out. Elizabeth was chair of the Australian Health Ministers Advisory Council (AHMAC) and its subsequent iteration of Health Chief Executives Forum. She is also a member of Chief Executive Women. Elizabeth was appointed a Member of the Order of Australia in the Queen’s Birthday 2022 Honours. In September 2022 she was awarded an Honorary Doctorate from Western Sydney University for her contribution to healthcare in Western Sydney and in May 2023 she was awarded an Honorary Doctorate from the University of Sydney in recognition ofexceptional service to healthcare and her significant role in shaping and guiding the future of health in NSW and across the nation.
