Biography

Prof Karin Thursky (MBBS, BSc, MD, FRACP, FAHMS, FAIDH) is an infectious diseases physician and health services researcher who has over 20 years’ experience in the fields of antimicrobial stewardship and infections in the immunocompromised host. She has successfully implemented and scaled programs to improve the quality and safety of healthcare and has a national leadership role in antimicrobial stewardship and sepsis. Her roles include the Associate Director of Health Services Research and Implementation and the implementation stream for the NHMRC National Centre for Infections in Cancer Sciences at Peter MacCallum Cancer Hospital. In her role at the Doherty Institute, Karin leads the National Centre for Antimicrobial Stewardship which takes a One Health approach to AMS across all human and animal health sectors, and is the Director of the Guidance Group at the Royal Melbourne Hospital which develops, implements and scales information technology to support the judicious use of antimicrobials.

Ali holds a Master’s in Health Informatics from the University of Sydney. He specialises in clinical software solutions including requirements analysis, product development, UX/workflow design, implementation, change management, and project management. He has delivered a number of clinical system implementation projects to Australian public and private hospitals since 2012.

Biography

Dr Julia Dalton is a highly respected Registered Nurse and Midwife, serving as the Unit Manager for the Northern Aboriginal Birthing Program at Northern Adelaide Local Health Network's Lyell McEwin Hospital and Modbury Hospital. She has a strong passion for research for improved maternal and neonatal health outcomes. Dr Dalton's interests are in health promotion and health literacy, particularly for vulnerable pregnant women. This includes digital technology as a complement to face-to-face antenatal education.

Dr Phil Gough is a Senior Lecturer in Design in the Affective Interactions Lab in discipline of design, and the Program Director of the Major in Biological Design. He teaches between the Design Lab and School of Life and Environmental Sciences in biological design, creative coding, interaction design and data visualisation. His research at Westmead looks into applications of design-driven biology.
