As patients receive care across health services there never been a more critical time for health information to keep up with the patient journey and for data to be accessible by decision support (possibly AI enabled). Consumers expect health professionals to be well informed on their care and want to be aware of information about them. Joining up independent information systems to provide better and more efficient care is the prime goal of interoperability and to achieve this at scale or across the whole system is a challenge.
IHE’s mission is to make healthcare interoperable. Systems developed iwith IHE inside communicate with one another better, are standards based and easier to implement, and enable care providers to use information more effectively.
This session presents the viewpoint of several local and international IHE leaders on how IHE has contributed to this goal over the last 25 years and applying hard won lessons to making HL7 FHIR successful in practice and widely adopted.
