Details
Plagued with the problem of increasing patient flow into an overburdened fixed capacity system, overcrowding in hospitals is considered an "International Crisis" and puts patient health outcomes at risk. As the first point of entry for patients, Emergency Departments (ED) are the visible face of the problem.
This provocative panel will discuss and identify factors leading to the challenges with ED access in crowded public hospitals and identify effective and evidence driven solutions to improve flow. The panelists are thought leaders in their respective disciplines and are also leads of a major multi-agency study underway in Queensland to investigate contributing factors to rising waiting times in public hospital emergency departments. The panel discussions will be framed to ensure they are engaging, explore diverse perspectives and generate debate on this topic which is of critical interest to the Australian health innovation community.
